The Scottish Agricultural College

The Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) selected AIS LIMS for both Veterinary Science Division (VSD) and Analytical Services Division (ASD) laboratories.

With a disease surveillance unit at Auchincruive near Ayr and other centres at Aberdeen, Dumfries, Edinburgh, St Boswells, Inverness, Perth, and Thurso, SAC VSD laboratories are responsible for much of the large animal disease surveillance work carried out in Scotland.

The labs analyse many samples from veterinary practices but are also responsible for analysing samples derived from nationally recognised health schemes monitoring sheep, goats and cattle for various diseases.

"AIS LIMS was chosen for its functionality and ability to analyse a diverse range of samples,"
explained Dai Darkin, director of AIS.
"The system posed some interesting installation challenges because the configuration of AIS LIMS is data driven and veterinary analysis differs significantly from other QA labs."

The use of AIS LIMS at nine SAC laboratories plus all four Scottish Public Analyst laboratories and several contract analysis laboratories ensures that AIS maintains a strong presence in Scotland.

AIS LIMS
AIS AQC software is available integrated into AIS LIMS or as a standalone product. It contains a set of powerful features for checking results against stored target values. The software will react to, and warn of bias and drift on predefined constants and provide audit trail of AQC breaches when integrated into AIS LIMS.
